Newton Horticulture
Garden Beyond
Projects
Newton Horticulture works on a range of projects ranging from highly ornamental flower designs to sprawling natural spaces. We convert lawn to meadow spaces, manage invasive species and reclaim spaces for native habitat, and build raised vegetable gardens as well. These projects emphasize plant selection and management practices that integrate diverse elements to create unique spaces.
Annual Flower Displays
City of Portland, Maine 2018-2024
These are some of the annual flowers displays that were created throughout Portland, Maine Public Parks. Annual flowers can add vibrant color from the middle of spring through the middle of fall. They can be a great additional to any garden or used to fill a container.
Tulip Designs
City of Portland, Maine 2018-2024
Every year Eric designed and planted ornate tulip displays consisting of over 9,000 bulbs in public parks throughout the city of Portland. These displays were admired by tens of thousands of visitors every year. Bulbs provide an opportunity for a unique interest to your gardens.
Middle Spring Farm
This 18 sprawling estate was an 1820's New England farm house with mature trees and shrubs, rolling meadows, walking trails, vegetable gardens, and a fishing pond. Work here focused on maintaining the health of specimen trees such as Magnolias, Sugar Maples, River Birches and mature lines of Rhododendrons, and Lilacs. Invasive species removal becomes paramount in a natural setting such as this.
The meadows received annual mowing in a rotating schedule in addition to reseeding with native meadow seed to reclaim what had been turned into cow pasture.
